Some of the best movies end with the hero taken off to his death. Empire Strikes Back, arguably the darkest and best of the saga, had Han Solo taken off to Jabba the Hutt by Boba Fett. Not to mention Darth Vader's contention of having fathered Luke Skywalker. For years people were left hanging, waiting, for an answer to Han's future and Vader's sincerity.

Oh man! Years??? I already have a problem waiting a few more months for "Blood Promise"! I can't imagine a year! Well, OK...I can, after all, I was hooked on Harry Potter and had to wait however long after the 4th book (and subsequent books). I seem to remember that there was easily a year or even more between books.

The bonus with a movie like VA and Twilight is that since the characters can't age from film to film (or not much anyway), we get movies faster! Very Happy

In theory I suppose that is what should happen, but with the harry potter movies they were only supposed to age a year inbetween each one but in the third one when they were supposed to be thirteen, they looked like they were 17....

...Not to be a negative nancy or anything.

Really? I didn't think they looked quite that old. I thought I saw a fairly natural progression of age thus far. *shurg* Everyone's perceptions are different.

But when you have a book series like VA where here we sit at book 3 and not even a whole school year has passed, if they were to turn it into a movie series, they'd have to do them all at once, OR (and this isn't really a great option) condense the books into one movie. We don't have an emote for ducking tomatoes, but I'm already ducking!

I think It would be best to just do them individually, I mean thats what the did with LOTR and that came out awesomeee!
Anyways and I mean other movies have cliff hangers too, its just a natural entertainment sort of thing, you want people to want to come back for the next one and figure out what happens...or maybe even read the book.

I would love to Va be on the big screen it would help ease my impatience between books. The only way i would want that to happen is if the movies were done in a lord of the rings style. Stay true to the story, don't cut out any parts, awesome directing and no small budget. My theory is that if you are going to turn a book that already has fan base into a movie then you have to stay true to the story with no short cuts in order to stay true to the fans. New fans will appreciate it that much more.

Personally I'd rather sit through a three hour movie that is done to perfection, rather than an hour and half of crap, like they are doing to twilight and so many others.

^I hope that the up-coming 'The Lightning Thief' movie ends up being done right, like the 1st 3 Potter-World movies and The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, Jill, because after that, i want to see if The later Percy Jackson And The Olympians movies could surpass both of them, outrightly. cheers

Now, as for the likes of Ralph and Jesse...when do we get to have a sign that they're meant to follow the basic troupe of Crouching Moron, Hidden Bad-Ass? Mad

dont get me wron i love hp but the first few movies were somewhat disappointing. they were good and all the effects were nice but they felt lacking a bit. 5 and 6 made great movies.

I can agree on 6, to some extent, but 5...not so much, Jill.

I'm still waiting on Ralph and Jesse to be Crouching Morons, Hidden Bad-Asses, already.

hahaha. The thing that i was most disappointed about with the 5th movie was that in the book the weasly brothers were the most entertaining. They had great roles in that book and i was looking forward to seeing that in the movie, through out the movie they were pretty over looked and thus the movie didn't have the same comic relief the book did.

My mum and i were royally ticked off and turned-off by the replacing of a reasonable structure and feel the novel had, with an outrightly Chaotic Structure and Feel, as the one thing that felt like[more like Was!] an outright Screw-Over, was the mutilation of the Prophecy and the conversation after the fighting.

The only thing i can say, that i know the movie managed to do, right, was that at the very least, it's easier to understand where Harry's coming from, in unclear thoughts, that Harry's Godfather just wanted to take care of Harry and save what was left of his family[the rest of the Marauders' family!]Snape's reasons to be mad were kept[even though they...messed-up with James' reasons for it, which further disrupts the dark feel of year 5!]and, this may sound poetic, coming from me, but...At the very least, in movie 5, i managed to learn how to care about Ginny, better, which i was trying real hard, to do, when reading the novels after book 2[except for in books 5 + 7!] i just wished that Wright had some of Ginny's better moments from the novel, though.

Apart from that, the most messed-up fouling i recalled, was the mutilating of the Prophecy that connects all the novels, together.I don't know how the final movies could fix the mess, when they didn't bother to have proper build-up to the final movies...movie 6 managed to fix the error, to some extent, but it wasn't enough, still, Jill.

That is why i am hoping that The Percy Jackson And The Olympians movies would fare better than the Potter-World movies did, along with 'The Seeker:The Dark Is Rising,' which was even more messier than need-be.But first, we need to spread word of 'The Lightning Thief' movie, and hope everyone can be there on opening weekend, to undo most of the damages, Jill.
