I remembered the passing comment that a Guardian had gone off to hunt Ms. Karp specifically once she became Strigoi and how Rose took it so shockingly when she found out the Guardian was Ms. Karp's lover. It was then that I started dreading the future of Dmitri Belikov. The entire book I kept reading and looking for that name to make sure it was still being mentioned. Killing him off, while Adrian was around, would be too convenient. But making him Strigoi, was foreshadowed.

But if Christian lived with his parents for a while after they turned Strigoi, then clearly they are not killing machines like the Moroi make them out to be. So is there hope for our comrade?

They just got established-- they were finally stable, and knew what the other wanted.

you guys kno how in HoN the "dead" fledglings came back as red fledglings, so what if Richelle made a way to reverse the strigoi transformations? that would be so muych cooler than her staying with him even tho hes strigoi or her killing him. i dont think i could handle it if she killed him and i dont think that she'll be able to kill him. i think that she'll get there and see him then she'll freeze and either he or another strigoi with him will kill her.

I totally agree. I also looked to see if Dimetri was at the end of the book. Lol! Also, the conversation that Rose and Dimetri had on the bus also made me uneasy...looks like Rose is going to follow through (or at least attempt to) with what Dimetri's wishes were. I wonder if Rose will meet the Guardian (Alexander) on her quest to find Dimetri...they would certainly have lots to relate to.

I don't remember any mention of Andrew killing Ms. Karp. What page is that on? Last I thought any Guardians heard was that he went after her.

I really hope that there is some hope for Dimitri [that sounds funny]. Any ways, like someone mentioned they had just had everything planned, they could be together, and then all that crap happens to him. I mean he has to be able to be himself. [at least a little.]

OMG I just finished the book... Im still crying... I mean, Dimitri and Rose are so perfect.... I just cant imagine them not being together... I hope there is some kind of hope...

I, too, was not happy that Dimitri and Rose were separated. They really do complete each other. (And 7 years isn't all THAT big of a difference). I keep hoping that because Mason was like on the edge of 'finding peace' that he's wrong. I hope he was wrong and that Dimitri is NOT a Strigoi. Even better would be a means of reversing the process of being Strigoi.

Or that Strigoi can choose not to kill. In Buffyverse, the evil vampires don't care about right and wrong b/c they're soulless. I'm not convinced that the Strigoi are soulless just b/c the Moroi say so. Victor's niece was loyal...Christian's parents.

That makes sense. What would that mean for their society? If Dimitri really became Strigoi (which I'm not convinced that he is. I still think Mason could be wrong), would he be able to reproduce with a Dhampir? Or are they devoid of life, like how when Moroi turn Strigoi they lose their magic because it is from life?

I wonder, too...wasn't it drilled into Rose (and other novices), that basically Strigoi are not to be trusted? That they will use say 'knowing you' as a means to soften your defenses. And that a guardian shouldn't even listen to a Strigoi, just stake them. I really do seem to remember this warning given to Rose by Dimitri. And I wonder what Rose would do? At the end of the book she says, "I'm going to kill the man that I love"...but when push comes to shove, do you think she would?

Dmitri basically warned Rose that she'd freeze if she ran into a Strigoi she knew. The blondie didn't freeze her b/c she didn't remember him. But Natalie (?) at the holding cell totally made her pause a bit too long.

Good point. And Natalie was just a friend. Dimitri was her mentor and lover. I really really hope Mason was wrong!
