I've been considering that one myself. But then you'd think Lissa's family would have come through too. I know they're not as close anymore, but they had to know Rose pretty well back when they were alive, especially if Rose was actually with them when the car crashed. They wouldn't have had just anyone in their car with them.

Hmm.. Yeah, that's right.. Maybe it has something to do with Mason's feelings toward Rose? Maybe he didn't want to "let go" of her before he knew she was safe.. And maybe it's because he was a "good" ghost, that he found his was through the weak wards.. Lissa's family sounded pretty mad and jealous (?) at Rose at the plane, so maybe the wards was strong enough to keep them away.. But the evil Strigoi got trough, so.. Hmm.. I don't know :p

I definitely think Mason was pushing the boundaries a bit. Lissa's family died violently and as far as we know they're not at peace yet. Where as Mason's death was terrible but in a way he died the way he was trained to and in a way that he'd be able to accept after a little while.
