i really liked this series for young adults it almost reminded me of vampire academy but not

It's a bit more "juvenile" but not in a pejorative way. The themes in HoN aren't as mature and Zoey Redbird is so flaky and irresponsible at times, it's hard to believe she's so powerful and the heroine.

Ugh, it really is hard to believe that she is the heroine. I couldn't read any more than the first two books.

HoN is ah-mazing. its the second best vampire series ive read only behind Vampire Academy

I love HON! Erik is so CUTE!

I know Erik is like freakin gorgeous but now that I think about it that series is so freakin niaeve(i don't think i spelled that right)...

I'm not sure they're naive so much as immature. My biggest pet peeve with Zoey Redbird is that she has all this power, all this responsibility, all this bad things happening to her and she's chasing boys. I'm not sure if this is what the Casts think 17 year old girls are like (or if they really are like that), but comparing Rose to Zoey is like comparing an adult to a toddler w/ a tantrum.

Zoey has this guy (Heath) who's totally devoted to her and never blinks after she's Marked as a Vampyre and yet she pushes him away b/c she's destined to be with Erik. Why? Well Nyx led her to him while his ex-girlfriend was on her knees tearing at his crotch so it must be pre-destined love to meet him this way. What? No...Nyx is telling you he's a distraction and into powerful girls. But whatever, so she's now dating Erik, sucking on Heath's neck behind his back, and in walks a teacher who's making inappropriate eyes. What does the horn dog do? Yup, cheat on both of them. She then destroys her two men to the core and instead of learning her lesson she has one conversation with the new boy at school and she's all fawning over him as a soul mate.

Zoey never learns that there is more going on, that there is more to her Mark and power than how it can get her boys. And that frustrates me about our "heroine".

I devoured it in two nights. Erik's character assassination came out of left field. I mean I know that Aphrodite said cryptically before that Erik liked to be the center of his girl's life, but that didn't go far enough to hint that Erik is a selfish asshole. But that said, I'm Team Heath so his dip in the stock market doesn't bother me.

I wonder why Stevie Rae lied about the existence of the other Reds. With the Blues and Humans in the tunnels, to be forewarned is to be forearmed. The "safe" Reds had control issues around Heath...imagine the non-safe ones like Stark. Speaking of which, I wish Zoey would realize her connection to Stark isn't romantic but Nyx. He was slated to be a powerful weapon in Kalona's and Neferet's plan. Nyx set it up that Zoey would connect with him before he died so she'd have some influence on his afterwards.

The "scooby gang" wasn't that integral to the plot this book but it was nice to bring in non-vampyre elements to help Zoey win the battle: Sister Mary Angela and Grandma.

Heath's blood I thought would be necessary to "ground" Zoey in "earth" since he'd be in the tunnels but that didn't turn out to be the intent for re-establishing the Imprint. But I think the reason Aphrodite didn't see a vision of the attack is b/c she wasn't meant to stop it and Nyx wanted Zoey to need Heath.
