Did I spell it right? In any case, do you think that for the character development of Rose, that Mason needed to die? Do you think that the Moroi who aided Rose (why can't I remember her name?) got a mark too? And what do you think they look like? I know they are lighting in an X? But how big?

An answer to your other question . . . I don't think the Moroi girl got marks . . . its just not there culture to fight Strigoi, so i don't think shell be honored for it . . . even tho she should.

The Moroi girl was Mia. The bitchy one who was always giving Rose and Lissa grief. Should Mia be entitled to molnija marks? Technically yes, she helped in a way to kill the Strigoi. But at this point...Uh oh. SPOILER! SPOILER (don't read anymore if you haven't finished the books!)

At this point Moroi aren't involved in fighting...they're not supposed to use their magic as a weapon. Tasha was planting the seeds about changing that.

I didn't like the fact that Mason had to die, but killing one of your characters takes a lot of guts. Many people don't have what it takes to do it (see Meyer). It gave the story depth, realism and it really did change Rose, it helped her grow and mature. Not to mention the fact that his death proved quite useful in the third book.

About the marks: Mead said she's gonna draw and post them on her LJ someday soon.

mia SHOULDN'T get molnija marks. they are given to those people who kill a Strigoi. mia only helped rose but she didn't actually kill the Strigoi. if she had actually killed the Strigoi then she should have gotten a molnija mark.

Christian took one out and assisted quite a few other kills by Rose. He definitely earned his marks.

I think they should get another kind of mark , Not molnija . Those are for the guadians . If moroi kills strigoi they should have their own mark

I agree with ivoshkov, the moroi who kill a strigoi should earn recognition but the moroi need to develop their own mark. Maybe if they help aid in a killing they get half of the x so it would be / if they actually make the kill then they get a full mark.

I don't think that Moroi should get marks at all for killing the Strigoi. They use magics to kill them. They were born with that magic and I think it would be rather easy for them to just kill the Strigoi with no real work done. For example, where Christian just burns them up... I mean where is the charm, the sweat, the blood... (okay.. too cynical and weird) .

However, dhampirs have to train for years and years and hone their strengths and fix their weaknesses and then go out hteir and put their LIVES at risk to save these Moroi. They deserve the marks because they have no natural advantages over the Strigoi. And yeah, maybe they have to practise their magic but dhampirs have to kick some serious ass time and time again until their inevitable death. (okay *taps myself* stop going down the cynical road).

I just believe that dhampirs deserve their molnija marks because their risk their lives for others. If Moroi kill, well good for them since they are only saving their own lives...

I get what your saying but it's not like all moroi are going to start using their powers to fight strigoi, all upper class moroi for the most part don't want to get involved and would rather hide behind dhampirs. It's going to be people like chriten, tasha mia, jill. That actually train to learn how to fight both combat and with their magic. They will be training to don't you think they should get acknowledgment when they graduate from their training. Some like you said could use fire to kill strigoi for all the other elements the only thing they can do is distract the strigoi, they are still going to have to physically bring down the strigoi themselves if they aren't fighting with a guardian, becaus efrankly lower class moroi don't have guardian's on hand. Thats why I think if they actually make the kill themselves they should get a different mark then if they aided say another guardian. And who's to say they are only saving their selves, tasha fought back for the sake of christian, and christian would fight to save lissa so I'm sure the intentions aren't always going to be selfish ones. I know Adrian tasha and christian are all royals who would fight for someone other than themselves. By taking a stand they are ostracizing themselves amongst the rest of royal society, in turn they are also making personal sacrifices to fight back.

I think yes the markings are somewhat nostalgia for guardians but like most of them say the molnia marks are anything but glamorous. It's also sort of a tally system on how many strigoi are killed. Sort of a reminder to everyone that they're not safe.

oh yeah Adrian is too big a part of the story now, plus he has too many fans. It's hard to believe that Adrian wasn't even meant to be in the storyline other than a passerby. Now he is such an integral piece of the story.
