I really liked House of Night and thought: "What could this series offer that the Casts did not?" I was mistaken. The similarities end at vampires w/ magical abilities and a school housing them. Having read HoN, I guessed that Karp and Lissa had a spirit affinity even though spirit was never mentioned as an element in the series up until that point. But the story is richer, the characters more complex, and the themes/stories more mature ...
