This is where all those who wish to write books can get ideas for names (etc.) for characters in their books and if they want exerpts. If they put up exerpts please do not take their ideas for your own!!! That's plagiarizing. Be warned that this could happen so I don't reccomend that you post exerpts...

I am writing a book and was wondering...
Can anyone start naming some names? (I cant think of any!!!) Fist or last or both, I really don't care! Thanks!

You know i read this post this morning before i left for school and i a reeling with suggestions. Now that i have the time to respond i'm drawing a blank.



I have one name to offer though. Sebastian... i absolutely adore that name. If i have kids in the far future , that would be the name i give it. I used to love Isbella but the whole twilight phase ruined that name for me. lol.

I am trying to find more original girl names!! Try to think of some that arent in bools already published please! I have no intention of plagiarizing!!

I asked my friends at school and I came up with Amelia, Nicoli, Julia, and Michael for the main characters... Can you think of things that are similar to those? I want a female A-name as part of the story... Originally I thought of Azreal but I dont want to copy off of The Van Alen series.

Well, I'm sure some place, somewhere , some book will have the same names of characters you wish to create. I'm all for originality but i wouldn't kill yourself over trying to find orginal names to avoid plagiarism. That will be impossible. I do agree with not using names is popular spotlight series- thats cheesy. I wasn't aware Sebastian was a name in a popular series- I've just always adored that name. But names are essistenial for bringing the characters you create to life, and bringing your story to life.

What's your story about? Maybe you can give us a historical summary of the world you wish to create, or a time period in which the story will take place or a general synopsis. Names can be a meaningful reflection to that kind of stuff.

babynames.com is my best friend when thinking of names for story characters or characters on rpgs. The best thing is that you can search by gender, by letter, by letter AND gender, by origin/nationality, by meaning... It's a really great website.

I would also suggest you take potential middle and/or last names into consideration. I like names I pick to have a sort of rhythm to them, and I don't like names to sound too similar. Like...Nathan Aaron Johnson would sound weird, but Nathaniel Parker Thomas flows much better. Don't be afraid to mix names and go for unusual things, but don't be weird about it. It's cool if someone has an unusual first or middle name, especially if it's a family name or something, but try to stick to more typical spellings. Raven as opposed to Reighvyn. You catch my drift. I hope that helps!
