i really want dimitri to come back - hes practically the base of the whole vampire acadamy storyline.
i think that rose will find him, and like HoN he will have trouble trying to keep his humanity.
rose, lissa and adrian will work together to help him to get his spirit to return.
but i think that will happen in the book after blood promise.
at the end of blood promise rose will find dimitri, fight with him, let him explain, and thats the end til the next installment.

I so hope that RM doesn't decide to kill Dimitri in the series but I also agree that she would do what's best for the series.

Oh wow so many wonderful theories, I hope one of them happens..the only one DIMITRI is SAVED.
I wonder if maybe Rose will find him, and they will fight..and from their fighting he will remember how much he loved her? How much she meant to him? Will she be able to kill him if she has to? No I don't think she will, she loves him..but even deeper he holds a piece of her soul. Could it be that she will let him turn her? No I don't think she will do that either, she would rather die than be what she hunts.

I think what will happen is she will find him, with help of course. She will try to save him, but being that he is now one of the undead he will try to turn her. Or at the very least try to talk her into turning to be with him. I know she won't do it, but he will try. She will see more ghost's and maybe try a to save his soul that way, and maybe try to return it to him. She is Shadow Kissed and can see people's sprits so maybe she can save his soul that way.

Just my theory..I could be totally off..but she can't kill him..she just can't!!!!!!!!!!

So here are my theories:
1) Dimitri is being held captive my the blond Stigoi that bit him and that the blond vampire just took him because he saw the chemistry between Rose and Dimitri and he wants to get back at Rose for killing Isaiah and Elena so he knows that she will have to come and get him... and i think that Mason had hoped that by tellng Rose that Dimitri was a Strigoi that he thought Rose would not go after him so she would stay safe and that's what mattered most to Mason, Rose's safety. I think that the blond Vampire may be the royal Moroi andrew from Frostbite that had got into the fight with the non royal when Rose was with Adrian and Christain and Lissa, and he remembered her.

2) Dimitri has turned Strigoi and rose finds him and stakes him (like wat many of you have already said) and Adrain is with her to help her along the way and because Adrian cares about Rose and wants her to be happy he bring Dimitri back dying in the prosess, and that Adrian was the one that had to save him because Rose worries about Lissa and doesn't want there to be a lond term effect on her after using her powers to save Dimitri.
3)rose finds Dimitri as a strigoi and because there love was so strong Dimitri still remembvers her and still loves her, and in rose's excitment in seeing him again she changes so they can have a happy immortal life together ( i don't really like option 3)

Nope I don't like option three either..I do however think you may be onto something with your first theory. I never thought about that it could of been Andrew..very clever thinking. I remember now how he said that he remembered seeing her before he awakened, and that bothered me. I couldn't think of who she had seen, and who had died that it could of been. Rose has been with Lissa a long time, so maybe he saw them before the accident with Lissa's parents and that is how he knows her.

Theory Two could be right too..cos Richelle has already said that Adrian has become a bigger character in the books than she first intended him to be. Since he is a spirit user and loves Rose, he could heal Dimitri and die doing it..sacraficing himself for his love for her.

I also think that there is a possibility that the blonde strigoi could be someone from Portland or one of the other schools lissa and rose were at while away from st vlads.... maybe they found out wat they were... Jeremy???

Ok people, what is it with every one and wanting dimitri 2 come back? hez a lame character! and all this talk about him being her true love? that isn't what the story is about, Richelle mead didn't write these fantastic books to end up a becoming a corny love story like twilight, anyway he's a pedophile for having sex with her while shez underage. besides Rose and Dimitri can't even have kids! wats the point?

Ok first off show me one part in the book that talks about Rose even wanting kids..cos I can't find one.
We all have our idea of how we think the next book should go, but no matter who Rose ends up with we will love them ( ok not anyone).
The reason we love Dimitri so much is cos he puts that stability into Rose that no one else can.
How can you say that the books aren't about love? Yes I agree that they are about so much more. But even before Dimka came alond, there was the love that Lissa and Rose shared as best friends. They are close as sisters, and that is love right there. Remember that Dimka and Rose are not the only loving couple in this series..there was first Lissa and Aaron..and now Lissa and Christian. Aside from loving couple..the book is about close friends going through hard times together..friendships built on LOVE!

Ultimately everyone of us that has read this series, gets something different out of it. So no matter how you see the book it will never be the same as how I or anyone else does. For those of us that want to see Dika come back to be with Rose..that is our fantasy..and for those of us that want to see Rose stake Dimka and be with Adrian that is their fantasy. I can't speak for everyone but, for me the book is about love. Not only for Rose and Dimka..or Christian, Lissa, Adrian..Eddie..but for them all. Lets not forget how much Mason loved Rose, he died trying to save her, but deep down her knew she didn't love him. He did it cos he loved her, and wanted her to live.

I see so many things in these books..adventure, frienship, mystery, caring, learning, and yes love. For me they are not only love stories but so much more. They are learning to get along, and how to beat the things that face them. I don't think its so much different from what we face on a daily bases..it just add's super natural abilities to it.

this book is built on love, its all through the pages.
and people that have joined this website obviously feel love for the book.
like twilight, yeah it is a love story.
but unlike twilight, its much better written, more adventurous, and rose doesnt rely on anyone other than herself (unlike bella).
i dont know who came up with the rose wanting to have kids thing either.
im not completely sure, but you would think rose wouldnt want a kid to go through what she did
being sent of to a school because the mum was a full time guardian..
but although dhampir and dhampir cant have kids,
i honestly hope rose and dimitri can still find a way to be together.
i think he will still have his humanity, but he will be struggling to maintain it.
and even if he cant be changed - they might be able to work around it.
its a long shot sure, and theres hardly a chance it will happen.
but regardless, i hope it does.
so rose and dimitri can be together.

I agree with ShadowKissed and loove_dimka.
Most of the story is about love.
They care, worry, sacrifice for each other on all the series.

And yeah, where did it say that Rose wanted kids?
If I remember correctly, Rose didn't want kids because she likes her job, protecting Moroi (Lissa), and because she doesn't want to end up like her mom.
If Rose has kids she won't spend time with it because of her job, and if she stays with the kid, she will have to let go of her duty, which is to protect the Moroi, and we all know she loves her job.

So no kids for Rose.

And besides, If she was planing on having kids, she would have to have sex with Moroi or humans and Rose would not like to be a Blood-Whore.

Ok so no kids for Rose..and your right on so many levels. She hates her mom for leaving her at the academy and not raising her..and Rose want's to be a gurdian so she wouldn't want kids anyhow. Plus the fact of being a blood whore..no way no how!

I too hope that they can find a way to be together, however I am not certain. The thing that bothers me is not knowing enough about the strigoi. Do we know how exactely they are turned? Do both parties have to exchange blood? Cos if not, who's to say Dimitri did that????

but we dont know that much about them.
we need to find out more about them to understand it.
like there could be a way for strigoi to go back to normal?
e.g. not killing for a long period of time.
but i think if dimitri tries that.. he may become human.

There is still a little chance that maybe Dimitri is NOT a Strigoi.
But I don't think they can turn back to normal because they are undead.
Which is worst than dead.

If he were dead maybe he could be healed but he's undead, so it's going to take more than just healing.
I sure wished RM said more about Strigoi, how they work, communicate, eat, etc.
